Breakfast Discussion

Members and staffers from the Lt. Governor’s office, the Speaker of the House’s office, and the Senate Business and Commerce and House Insurance Committees are invited to attend a breakfast discussion on insurance with national insurance expert Dr. Phil O’Connor.

Dr. O’Connor will provide a brief overview on the success of Illinois’ competitive insurance market, detailing why it has worked so well for consumers and insurance providers for over 30 years, and compare it to Texas’ insurance market. Questions are encouraged.

Dr. O'Connor served as chair of the Illinois Commerce Commission, which oversaw one of the most healthy competitive insurance markets in the country. Prior to that, he was Director of the Illinois Department of Insurance and had been Deputy Director for Research and Urban Affairs.
